LML Causes Saint Denis Crash only?

Hi  All

I have been playing RDR2  Online and SP for about 3 years  but nowadays I just focus on SP and I started  using mods   for RDR2 about 6 months ago, I generally always use mods in games  where appropriate and they enhance the overall gaming experience

I have a strange issue that   causes the "Unknown error  FFFFFFF"   in Saint  Denis only, I have done some troubleshooting based on my limited knowledge and  I would appreciate some  feedback. So far this is what I know and have confirmed

  • its  not a  pirated version
  • when I rename\disable vfs.asi and version.dll  I can travel around Saint Denis without  the game crashing
  • but I have to disable both,  this tells me its LML  related?
  • I went into  ModManagerUI.exe and disabled every  mod and kept   vfs.asi running but the game still crashes

So what is  the relationship between vfs.asi and the ModManagerUI and how would  you troubleshoot this crash in Saint  Denis?

To clarify: Just version.dll and no vfs.asi and it crashes? No version.dll and no crashes? If that is the case, my suspicion would be that some of the multiplayer stuff that gets loaded is corrupting something and causing the crash. Hard to say what asset/changeset exactly, though.

Yes so  I confirmed it now.  I rename VFS.asi and  keep version.dll running and it crashes in Saint Denis

But then I renamed Version.dll   and its fine

I included the screenshots of  mods  that are  active  in LML  and outside of  LML.  If  you have time I would appreciate if you know which of these  mods are considered MP  so I can test it by disabling those mods

None of your LML are loaded if you rename vfs.asi so you can rule them out. There is a chance that another asi mod might cause/amplify the issue, but I suspect it is the MP assets that are loaded by version.dll itself. You could try to move all asis out of the game folder and try again. If it still crashes, it is safe to say that it is the game's MP assets (and/or the way they are forced into SP) are the issue. You could just use another asi loader which does not load them and should be fine.

Yes I can do that, Im convinced  its  version.dll  related because I noticed the lawmen never attack  me in small towns like Armadillo even when Im shooting at them..its like they not capable of aggro  😀

I renamed version.dll and not vfs.asi  and they now attack me and behave correctly

Im  just  going to  use another asi loader but even if I cant fix  it Im fine because  it only crashes  in Saint Denis  and when I need  to  go there  I just rename vfs.asi

Thanks for  your feedback
