Thank you for this awesome mod! I'm finding that even the 'Ligher' Darker Nights is still too dark, especially in the swamp areas. Any chance of making another file that is half way between 'Lighter' and vanilla game night darkness?

Thanks. I've tried that mod and while it is nice, the milky way stars look way to bright and out of place.

With this mod, Darker Nights, I noticed that all artificial lights (lamps, lamp posts, candles, etc.) all look dull and less bright than vanilla. I wish there was a way to make the game's nights look relastically dark while keeping the artificial lights bright and vibrant.

I agree, I love the darkest setting of this mod but wish there was a way to increase the effect area of just artificial lights. Street lights only seem to light a ~6 foot radius underneath them, barely covering any of the actual street, and leaving everywhere else pitch black. I wouldn't hold my breath though, with my limited game design knowledge I'd guess that lamp posts and other static light sources are probably baked into the map and would take a complete redesign to tweak in any way. Would also be nice to significantly decrease the accuracy of NPCs at night, if I can't see shit neither should they lmao. But at that point I'm just nitpicking. Neither of those issues are beyond suspension of disbelief for me, and it is definitely a huge improvement over vanilla. We can only expect so much out of such an awesome modding community for a 6 year old game.

I know every game is different but I've used other darker nights mods for other games and they seem to work perfectly, where just the night is darker but artificial lights (torches, lamps, etc.) haven't been altered. Oblivion is a good example of this. The dampening effect on artificial lights is so pronounced with this mod that I unfortunately had to go back to vanilla night darkness.

Absolutely love this mod. Multiplies the atmosphere in the game, now it really feels like night. Thanks for your work!

Yes, I'm using the mod myself too. Edited the darkness settings to my likings, but can't imagine to play without this mod. One of the few mods that are NOT on Nexus, but is one of the essential ones. I would suggest to post it on Nexus, since a lot of people don't know about it.

I cannot seem to get this mod to work. The game launches fine, but there is no difference to the night time's brightness (or darkness for that matter.) I think it may have something to do with the game's auto exposure settings brightening everything when its dark. Any suggestions? I've tried loading the game with this mod alone on the DARKEST setting and see no difference. Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: for anybody with the same problem as me, check your mod load order. I put this at the very top and got this one working after some tweaking. It seems the newest version of DLSS that I manually installed was adding unwanted and very strong auto exposure, rebrightening my nights. After replacing it with the original DLSS .dll file, it finally worked!

I installed the darkest one first and then decided I'd like to try the lighter version and now none of them will work. Ive tried reinstalling game and mod. Anyone know what's up? Is there something specific I need to delete and re-add?

The DLSS files can be found here:

The game came with version 2.2.10 but I recommend trying 2.5.1. It should work fine with auto exposure and it has better image quality than the original.

thank, but.. still not working.. the nigth and the day y pretty similar

The Dynamic Seasons mod is what's causing this, but you can fix that by going into the seasons.ini file and turning visual_settings to 0 and saving.
