No Automatic Reload Ever 0.9.1.2

This mod attempts to prevent automatic weapon reload.. with more or less success...

2 Screenshots

This mod attempts to prevent weapons from being automatically reloaded while they're holstered/stored, when activating deadeye or when they're empty.

This mod has three main parts:

1. No automatic reload when using deadeye.

2. No automatic reload while weapons are holstered or stored on your horse.
The mod remembers the last five weapons you equipped of each type (last 5 revolvers, last 5 pistols, etc...) and keeps track of their ammo count.
Known issues:

-Dual wielding two of the exact same weapons will make one of them reload, the mod can only track one of each weapon. I don't think this can be fixed with the tools available to us right now..

-Doesn't work with the LeMat revolver.

3. No automatic reload when a gun is empty.
This is the messy part, you can disable this in the .ini if you'd like to use the rest of the features without this one...
The game's ammo counter will display incorrect numbers, that's part of the trick I use to prevent auto reload and not likely to be fixed. To circumvent this I made my own ammo counter, unfortunately it can only display ammo that's currently in your guns, and not the overall amount in your inventory.. (check out the image to see how it looks
). You can disable my ammo counter in the .ini, but if you decide to use it you have to disable the vanilla ammo counter in the game's settings.
Other known issues:
-The ammo counter will possibly be positioned incorrectly depending on the resolution / aspect ratio of your monitor. You can correct it for yourself in the .ini file.

-For now single shot rifles will auto reload, I'm yet to look into those.
-Does not work correctly with the Mauser pistol, the LeMat revolver and John's Cattleman revolver.
-When you completely run out of a certain type of ammo the last bullet might get stuck in your gun. Holstering and re-equipping the gun should solve this.
-I haven't tested it with exotic or gang weapons (let alone mod weapons..).

Installation:
Download NoAutomaticReloadEver.rar, extract it and drop the files into you Red Dead Redemption 2 game folder.

Released

- Other mods that use the 'R' key should be working again (as long as you don't have a weapon equipped)
- Made sure the mod doesn't interfere with using non-weapon items like lasso, fishing rod, etc... for real this time.
- The ammo counter should disappear now with the rest of the HUD, eg: during kill cam.
- The ammo counter should move to the left while you're wanted, to prevent overlapping with the wanted HUD element.
This isn't working perfectly yet, I'll try to improve it..

Hey just downloaded to do a super quick test of this. Only tested the no auto reload during shooting mechanic and it mostly worked but there were a few different quirks I found in a few minutes of testing.

When you first load in swap your weapons on the horse to get them to work right with the shooting no auto reload.

First off, this mod seems to decrease fire rate by blocking trigger pulls for a fraction of a second after a shots fired which I noticed when my muscle memory tried to double pull the trigger on a single action revolver. This isnt more than a handful of milliseconds, barely enough to be noticeable but  I figured id let you know about it (Honestly I think it kind of adds to the weapon handling honestly and fits for me as it accidentally simulates recoil, that said it makes hammer fanning kinda clunky. If you ever figure it out and remove it from the mod I wouldnt mind seeing an option in the ini.)

Second, the no auto reload during shooting doesnt seem to work while on horseback and it doesnt work in a strange way. First, it GIVES THE PLAYER AN EXTRA ROUND TO FIRE.  So shooting a 6 shot revolver you are able to fire 7 times then you do the auto reload anyway. I assume this mod works by increasing the ammo capacity of all guns by 1 then disallowing the player from firing the last bullet and something about being on horseback messes that up.

These are what I found with my first look but other than that seems to work quite well. Thanks for making this, I know disabling auto reload has been a tough pig to pork for the modding community and I appreciate you finding a work around. Ill keep playing with this and report back if I find anything else

Indeed, the trick I use doesn't seem to work at all while on horse back.... I disabled that part while on horseback for now, I'll look into it tomorrow.

The decreased fire rate should only happen when you're down to your last bullet, I did it because spamming fire really fast sometimes messed things up, if it's happening all the time that's probably just a mistake I can fix.

    Thanks for the feedback!

This is one of my favorite mods, it works as intended, i love the fact that you have to manually reload your weapons when your out.

That automatic reload made no logical sense to me especially considering how vast and complex this game is.

About the only other thing i would like to see for this mod if its possible is a slower reload of the weapons, and

based on what weapons you are using, really realistic levels, overall this mod adds another level of immersion

to the game, thank you for your work!

You're welcome, glad you like it!

I'd love a slow reload mod too, at the moment I have no idea how would you do it though, and since nobody really managed to make one yet I don't have high hopes :\

So, something that always bothered me in RDR2 is that the game automatically stows your weapons when you are riding a horse. Is there any way you could make a mod for that ma' man ? You've got some really interesting stuff here already, it would be nice to have to manually stow my weapons on the horse as well.

Very late reply but if anyone else is asking the same question then there is a mod for it on the Nexus here:

    No AUTO Horse Holstering
