DO NOT OPEN THE MAP EDITOR AGAIN AFTER THE MAP HAS BEEN LOADED. PED ANIMATIONS WILL GET THROWN OFF, YOU CAN CHANGE THE OPEN KEY IN THE INI IF YOU HAVE A TRAINER THAT USES F5.  IF THIS HAPPENS, RESTART THE GAME TO FIX.

This mod takes the 3 empty "for sale" cabins and turns them into mostly functional, fully decorated houses (only available in the epilogue, everything else will work before that). There are multiple custom properties around the map for sleeping/stocking up on food, ammo etc (Blips/wardrobe access coming soon). All beds can be slept in, most of the cabinets are stashed with loot, and there is a working campfire at each house for crafting.  I did my best to make everything look as natural as possible. Inspired by RDR1's safehouses.
 
To install, drop Safehouses.asi into your main RDR2 folder and 'safehouse.xml' into MapEditor\Maps in your main directory. Press F5->Load Map.  The latest version of map editor is required
 
I haven't had any problems with performance/loot spawning in my testing, but let me know if anything stands out.
Known bugs: The weather changes to a sandstorm when first loaded, will go away after a few seconds. Also the chickens might escape. Should be fixed soon.

    after pressing f5 and then loading the map my character dies

    I don't know if this has to do with other mods

    also, there is no ini there is only a settings.xml but, I don't know how to change the open key, since it says it's a key number 116, I don't know which number is which key

    sorry to say that, but the mod is extremely buggy, map editor doesn't close, num pad 0 doesn't work, every time I load the map in the map editor the character in the game cries and then dies, after he is dead I can move the camera in free roam and I see that colter is really populated (which is intended) but I can't close the map editor and I can't get the character back again into play. So right now the mod is very interesting, but absolutely unplayable.

    Eaasy my man you probably have another mod that interferes with it, I haven't heard of anybody else having problems so far

    Ok, got to map editor to work. (Num Lock could not be activated on my laptop, only after unchecking a box in the settings which changed the numlock from mouse it started to work.)

    Still when loading the map, the weather changes but the character cries and dies probably?

    Do I have to load the map every time I fire up the game?

    The people in Colter can't be talked to?

    -What do you mean exactly by "dies probably", did you try playing? Mine also screams when I load it but he doesn't die.

    -Yes there's an autoload feature coming

    This truly is the Golden Age of RDR modding. Very good work, just one question. Are you going to be reviving (for lack of a better word) other places, like Cornwall Kerosene and Tar, Tanner's Reach, or Wapiti Reservation? Or even Guarma, like removing the debris from the Fort, or unlocking the doors for the Plantation and Town? Very excited to see continual updates for this mod.

    Thanks man! And yea Tanners reach should be in the next update but Cornwall and Wapiti will take a little more time.  I started on Guarma already and plan on making the fort into a gang hideout.

    I don't suppose it's possible to add a few merchants like a butcher, like a place you can sell animals and whatnot

    I really enjoy mods that give you extra things to do - especially post-epilogue. I seem to have an issue that nobody's mentioned yet. I can get the map to load just fine, sometimes there's a small drop and scream, but I haven't died from it once. Instead, I have a different issue - and this is the only mod I run aside from an F5 trainer which most of us probably have. When I hunt down an animal, I can skin it, but it will not allow me to 'stow' it on the horse... the option doesn't come up at all?

    Have the exact same problem. It also won't let me pick up a body or pick up a skin I drop either. If I unload this map then I can pick up and store on my horse again.

    Something I'd love to see is the trees going back to normal before the Appleseed Timber Company took them all down. This is sort of east of Strawberry.

    I'm having the same problem that Krokx is having. I cannot get this mod to work. I load the map, John dissapears, the screen then freezes and then crashes to desktop. I have Rampage trainer and Wardrobe editor.

    For some reason it gives me a bunch of errors and a bunch of capital "F"s in the error messsage when i load the map using map editor, did exactly what u told me, can u fix it? or help.
