HUGE Problem with Modding RDR2 That No One is Talking About
Dagger323 replied to Dagger323's topic in RDR2 Mods Discussion
I don't know if it's scripthook and dinput8 that directly cause it (I've also tested with ScriptHookRDR2 V2 as well as the latest version of dinput8, found here: Releases · ThirteenAG/Ultimate-ASI-Loader) or if it's a matter of the spawns breaking after enough mods are loaded into the game. If I test with just scripthook, dinput8 and Railroad Engineer, I get normal spawns. If I add in lml (with two or three other light mods) I seem to get normal spawns. But the more mods that are added the more spawns seem to become impacted, starting with trains. I'll give kudos to the folks that have tried, but I honestly don't think that anyone currently knows what the hell is going on nor what to do about it.- 737 replies

HUGE Problem with Modding RDR2 That No One is Talking About
Dagger323 replied to Dagger323's topic in RDR2 Mods Discussion
Your findings reinforce my own. Poorly formatted texture mods are not the sole culprit. Instead, this issue is widespread across many different kinds of mods and as of yet there hasn't been any rhyme or reason identified with what triggers it. The file replacement method is largely pointless and doesn't fix it, nor do edits to the gameconfig (I've even seen worsening spawns by installing custom gameconfig files or editing my own that were immediately alleviated by removing them). There hasn't been a single solution presented yet that solves the spawning. And for anyone who has been mislead by what has been incorrectly stated here by others before, train spawns are absolutely still one of the first things that is impacted in a broken game and they should be spawning pretty much a minimum of 8 out of 10 times for a modded game to even be considered near functional. I sound like a broken record repeating what I've said many times before, but I can't stress this enough. If you can come within range of any one of the train icons on the map (using the Railroad Engineer mod to monitor where they are) and not see a train spawn for several times in a row, then your spawns are still malfunctioning, PERIOD. I know this because I've spent more than a year testing it. I'm at the point where after vastly whittling down my mod list to a mere tiny fraction of what it was, and with no large texture mods anymore, I consistently get roseate spoonbills, peds on trollies, vanilla amounts of wildlife, chickens in Valentine... and yet train spawns, especially when in or near towns and settlements, are hit or miss and most of the time miss. Uninstall all mods and they immediately return. After more than a year testing and dealing with these issues, I've given up on modding RDR2 any further unless someone comes along that manages to find a real, proven and reliable solution instead of merely pseudoscience and snake oil.- 737 replies

HUGE Problem with Modding RDR2 That No One is Talking About
Dagger323 replied to Dagger323's topic in RDR2 Mods Discussion
Not necessarily. I guarantee there are still certain mods that will break the spawns that use large enough textures. Your low resolution just enables you to use more of them without noticing it. But it's still not worth the trade off for me in visuals coming from 4K.- 737 replies

HUGE Problem with Modding RDR2 That No One is Talking About
Dagger323 replied to Dagger323's topic in RDR2 Mods Discussion
Can't help you with that as I've not experienced that issue myself. You'll need to isolate the conflicting mod(s) by doing a process of elimination. Also, as you said, your issue is not relevant to the topic of this thread. There are other threads that would be more suited to your problem, or you could always just create your own thread. I'd like to keep this discussion on-topic specifically regarding the spawning issues and not start opening up the conversation to random general modding problems. Thanks.- 737 replies

HUGE Problem with Modding RDR2 That No One is Talking About
Dagger323 replied to Dagger323's topic in RDR2 Mods Discussion
That is not a solution at all. In fact I have tested that very mod extensively before and it actually exasperates the spawning issue because it forces the game to render more high-quality textures further away from the camera. Any LOD set higher than what the in-game settings allow will negatively affect the spawns.- 737 replies

Can you elaborate more on this? What was the conflicting format on Firearm Cosmetics and what did you change it to, and how did you change it?- 737 replies

Have you thoroughly checked for train spawns using the Railroad Engineer mod in different locations other than Valentine? Rhodes, Saint Denis, Annesburg, etc.? If you haven't, please do that and then come back and report your findings.- 737 replies

I can only speak for myself and my own testing; I've not noticed .asi mods affect peds and wildlife much, if at all, but I have had .asi mods reduce trains from the world. Train spawns seem to be incredibly touchy and even light mods can cause them to disappear.- 737 replies

Yeah multiple people have linked that after I originally did and were seemingly unaware that I had done so before. I can confirm that trains are not fixed with that mod, but it did remedy almost all my other spawning issues, so it's definitely worth installing.- 737 replies

HUGE Problem with Modding RDR2 That No One is Talking About
Dagger323 replied to Dagger323's topic in RDR2 Mods Discussion
Interesting. But I've not ever personally experienced that. My saves have never gotten corrupted from mods I've installed, and uninstalling all mods will immediately restore my train spawns to normal no matter which save file I use. I guess it depends on the specific mod list you have though, and perhaps certain mods do corrupt save files. I just don't seem to have encountered any with the ones I've installed.- 737 replies

I have tested both with and without the train mod. The train spawns are 100% identical regardless of whether I'm using it or not. Again, I don't know what to tell you. But I have absolutely tested this thoroughly, and for a lot longer than you have. If you have consistent trains in your game, great. You've solved YOUR issues somehow. For me and many others, the issue is ever present.- 737 replies

HUGE Problem with Modding RDR2 That No One is Talking About
Dagger323 replied to Dagger323's topic in RDR2 Mods Discussion
That's exactly what I'd like to know. It seems that for a willing and knowledgeable modder this would be completely doable. Especially for train spawns, since the mod that has been linked which edits memory pools pretty much has already solved the ped and wildlife spawns. Maybe it's more complex than I realize, but I see no reason why this couldn't be resolved through a mod that specifically targets trains and controls how frequently they show up.- 737 replies

HUGE Problem with Modding RDR2 That No One is Talking About
Dagger323 replied to Dagger323's topic in RDR2 Mods Discussion
Unless perhaps you're playing in a much lower resolution than I am (native 4K) with lowered graphics settings that may be affecting how efficient your game's spawns are, then I don't know what to tell you either. I have tested thoroughly on dozens of different saves. Across multiple chapters. Like I said, I have been troubleshooting this stuff for MONTHS. And I'm well aware of the fact that the game doesn't draw trains on the map 24/7. The Railroad Engineer mod is the only way to determine where trains WILL be though once you get close enough to their icons on the map, and thus it's the only way to consistently be able to test for trains correctly spawning in. So claiming that using it is "idiotic" is both false and completely idiotic in itself.- 737 replies

HUGE Problem with Modding RDR2 That No One is Talking About
Dagger323 replied to Dagger323's topic in RDR2 Mods Discussion
I've been using Scripthook V2 the entire time. And I've made numerous additional edits to the gameconfig as per dominatorgt's and AbdelrahmanMahmoud's recommendations. As I said, trains are still a big problem, and I can confirm this because I've tested them thoroughly for months. They'll show up in the wilderness but rarely if ever in settlements. And I know that others are still experiencing no trains even with the "An Experimental Game Config to Help with the pop-in and spawn issue" mod because someone else mentioned the same thing in the comments section of that very mod. Uninstalling mods and comparing the game to vanilla proves just how many trains are still missing from modded versions of the game. No one has been able to solve the train issue as of now. It's the biggest hurdle that still needs to be overcome. And yes, WhyEm's mods break tons of stuff in the game. That's old news at this point.- 737 replies

HUGE Problem with Modding RDR2 That No One is Talking About
Dagger323 replied to Dagger323's topic in RDR2 Mods Discussion
I've already linked that mod several times in this thread before. In my experience it definitely helps with peds and wildlife, but trains are still hit or miss, and mostly miss, especially in large settlements. The only way to accurately test for normal train spawns is to follow the method I described extensively several pages back in the thread.- 737 replies

That's really not relevant to this thread's topic at all. This thread is specifically about the Train/NPC/Wildlife spawning issues, not other random bugs from mods you have installed and haven't tested out one by one to find the root of your issue.- 737 replies

Dagger323 replied to Dagger323's topic in RDR2 Mods Discussion
That just sounds like you changed something that altered how the trains are spawning and don't know what you did to make that happen. You would need to conduct a lot more thorough testing to narrow down what precisely was/is affecting your train spawns rather than purely wild guessing, which really isn't helpful in the slightest.- 737 replies

HUGE Problem with Modding RDR2 That No One is Talking About
Dagger323 replied to Dagger323's topic in RDR2 Mods Discussion
Go back and read my posts detailing how to check for train spawns. I've reiterated it too many times already to go to the trouble of typing it all over again. Spoonbills alone are not a reliable way to check for the problem as they only really serve as a generalized indication of normal wildlife spawns and do not necessarily signify normal ped counts in stagecoaches, wagons, and trolleys, and certainly provide no accurate representation of correct regular train spawning, which is one of the first aspects that breaks in the game and easily the most difficult thing to try and resolve.- 737 replies
