As the title suggests if you've been able to find an actual solution to the ERR_GFX_STATE, error please post it below. I'll will try each of them to try to get my RDR2 working past 30 minutes before it crashes. Thank you for reading

This worked for me:

C:\Users\yourname\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings

Edit the system.xml file

scroll down and change "<API>kSettingAPI_VULKAN</API>" to  "<API>kSettingAPI_DX12</API>"

Here's what I've tried, as far as the Settings go:

  1. I've changed it, and even saved the .xml file as read only.
  2. I also have the mod where the game can't revert graphic settings when you change something.
  3. I've deleted the .sga files
  4. I've modified the .sga files to read only
  5. I've modified the .sga files to be empty so they won't cause a vram leak.
  6. I've used graphic mods from Nexus for low end cards (I have an Nvidia GeForce 780M)
  7. ***It will play for a few hours when I first play the game. After it fails the first time, it will only play in 5 to 10 minute intervals.

RANT COMING!!!!

It is really sad that I can't get an official version of RDR2 to work on my laptop, when it worked less than a month ago. Now it crashes every 3 to 5 minutes!!! Makes me feel like this horse...

I found this hilarious gif and needed to share with you guys. : r/RDR2
