joebeefhash 7 Posted February 7, 2023 Share Posted February 7, 2023 Anyone else get the Steam Update yet? It was about 2.93GB and it broke my game. Currently reinstalling and will install mods one by one and see if I can get it playable. I see a little bit of smoke from the opening animation and then it freezes and crashes. Doesn't get to Rockstar Legal Screen or anything. Game was playing perfectly fine the day before. Woke up and seen I had to update. I tried to play without updating but it wouldn't let me. The Rockstar game launcher kept saying it couldn't validate or something. So I updated and that went away, game launches, but then almost immediately freezes. Will update on results. I can tell you this you though....If it don't want to work I'm going back to the [P] version. I understand they aren't trying to intentionally break peoples games, but DRM and UPDATES are always crap for mods. Will need to wait for the makers of things like RagePluginHook and ScriptHookRDR2 to update their mods. Going to try all the ScriptHooks now lol. If they work then I've uninstalled and reinstalled for nothing basically lol. But I needed a fresh start anyways. but dang man RDR2 is like 120GB. Took about 2 and half hours to download. I got the [P] version of 1491.16 also downloading because I'm getting tired of this and I needed to update my [P] version anyways. This is crazy that it in today day and age, you purchase a product and don't even want to use the product supplied through the vendor so you go to a shady vendor who's like DRM? I can remove that. I don't have RagePluginHook installed, I think I have it downloaded and backed up though. I have AlexanderBladeScriptHook and it was 4th on the list of things installed. I even installed Rampage Trainer with the asi without the scripthook that it would require and the game launched fine, just no Rampage Trainer [obviously]. It's like you said, it's the scripthook. But still this is some crap because I was in the middle of modding stuff and I'm still not there. I have a useless copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 on my hard drive. So stupid. They have the same file name so I thought I had everything setup right. So AlexanderBlade hook is basically obsolete now right? Also, I had V2 installed before I updated, so I guess I still haven't determined what's causing my game to crash lol. LordLopeS 0 Posted February 8, 2023 Share Posted February 8, 2023 (edited) I did something that worked here, I don't know if it will be for everyone but for me it was like this: I removed the scripthookRDR2.dll (It is the V2 version of the scripthook that is on the nexus mods website, I removed it because they said it was the problem), then the game opened normally without the mods, after that I closed the game and put again the scripthookRDR2.dll and the game started normally with the mods loaded, that is, in my case it was just some conflict, I just had to remove the file from the folder and put it back after the game started normally. Yes Im sure, left the mods in lml, deleted only version.dll and the game run (the mods dependent on version.dll were not working other mods worked). When I put version.dll back the game drops. LordLopeS - The same thing happened to me basically. I originally had V2 Scripthook installed and upon updating it seemed to get messed up, or something got messed up with the update, but now my game is running fine like yours after putting scripthook v2 back in there.
