Changelog

1.4

  • Undid the changes in 1.3, and instead reduced pedLootType and pedLocaleType loot tables to 10%
  • Added compatibility files for WhyEm's DLC v1.0.0.7 and WhyEm + RDO
  • Reduced a couple originally unchanged items in loot_table_reward like FIVE_DOLLARS and TEN_DOLLARS to half their original reward amount

1.3

  • Changed ped loot ContinuousLinearDrops to AggregateDrops, and reduced probabilities by half

1.2.1

  • Added alternate catalog_sp.ymt for Red Dead Offline V1.3 compatibility

1.2.0

  • Reduced ammo loot from bodies

1.1.0

  • Added alternate catalog_sp.ymt file for JMRP V2.8 compatibility
  • Fixed a few sell values that were rounded to "0" instead of "1"
  • Reduced ped item loot rates that were set to 100%

1.0

  • Initial upload

Special Thanks to

  • LMS for Lenny's Mod Loader
  • Senexis for the catalog_sp.ymt and automating the price conversions
  • Everyone else from the Mod RDR Discord

Requirements

  • Lenny's Mod Loader

Installation

  1. Place the "hardcoreMode" folder inside your "/Red Dead Redemption 2/lml/"
  2. If using mod that shares catalog_sp.ymt, choose appropriate version in "compatibilityVersions" folder
  3. Replace catalog_sp.ymt in "/Red Dead Redemption 2/lml/hardcoreMode"
  4. Delete catalog_sp.ymt provided with other mod
  5. If conflicting mod contains an "install.xml," edit it (not the one from hardcoreMode), and remove:

            <FileReplacement>
                <GamePath>platform:/data/itemdatabase/catalog_sp.ymt</GamePath>
                <FilePath>catalog_sp.ymt</FilePath>
            </FileReplacement>

Notes

  • Not compatible with other modifications that replace catalog_sp.ymt unless compatibility file is included. If there's a compatibility file you'd like, let me know.
  • Recommond using Josefig's great script to reduce mission payouts!

Features
Attempt at recreating the "Hardcore Difficulty" from Red Dead Redemption - GOTY Edition

  • Maximum health is reduced by half, taking in consideration health levels
  • Health regenerates more slowly, and after a longer delay
  • All purchasables cost more, and all items sell for less
  • Reward/drops/looting amounts are lowered/more rare
  • Starting a new game is recommended. Otherwise, what's the point?

I have only done minimal testing with the mod so far. Any issues please let me know and I will look into them.

Hi there,
Your mod is exactly what I was hoping for, you have no idea!!. I'm so amped to try and play this but I might be missing something.
I have a question if you dont mind me asking. I installed LML + hardcore mod and I also checked the logs and its loading 100%.

I do use mods that only rely on scriptHook, so not sure if there could be a conflict of the catalog_sp.ymt file. Anaway, how should I see if any increase in item prices are in effect?
I tried buying various items from the gun smith and general  goods store and seems its exactlky the same. Is there something I'm missing with regrds to the increase in prices? I also checked the item prices and the amount I paid = the normal asking price

You could check the RDR2 Wiki to see what vanilla prices are. For instance the Cattleman in the regular game is $50, the mod should make it $100. Regular revolver ammo is $1, the mod should make it $2.

I'd check your vfs.txt log in your RDR2 main directory. If the files are loading correctly, it should have some lines like this:

2021-07-20 21:18:08 INFO d:\gtav\vfs\vfs\vfs\rdr3\customcollection.cpp:482: Global full replace: addonDLC:/hardcoremode/catalog_sp.ymt

Make sure you're also using the most recent version of Lenny's Mod Loader, and the most recent version of Alexander Blade's ASI Loader (just updated yesterday) or LMS's ASI Loader.

Unless you have another mod installed that uses catalog_sp.ymt in your "lml" folder, it shouldn't be overwritten by anything.

Loving the hell out of this mod, well done cp1dell. Quick question and Im sure its probably not that simple but still curios.
Any chance I would be able to increase all prices by x3? E.g. just a 3x multiplier across all prices including clothes.

Glad to see you were able to get it working. Sure, here's an alternate catalog_sp.ymt with the cost value increased by 3.

Thanks for this awesome mod! I would like to use the above catelog_sp.ymt with a greater cost value, but would also like to use Red Dead Offline. It would seem the only way to do this is to edit each individual quantity value for the offline catalog ymt which would be extremely tedious. Would it be possible to get a Red Dead Offline version with higher prices?

Otherwise I would greatly appreciate learning how you managed to do this if there is an easier way, as I couldn't see any multiplicative value or similar entry.

Thanks so much!

Hi this link for Catalog_sp.ymt is not working. Could you please repost it? I need to nerf the currency in this game more I think. Thanks!
