More Persistent Weather 1.2.4

Bad weather will last longer, get random bad weather when you wake up or load the game and more...

The short version:

This mod makes each weather type last longer, you can get random bad weather when you load the game or wake up, weather can persist while you sleep, or even when you quit the game.

The long version:
(You can customize everything below in the ini file.)

-Each type of weather will last longer.
This mod does *not* make it rain or snow more often, but when the game decides it's time for bad weather it'll last longer. There's also an option to make clear / sunny weather last longer.
The default values are only 2-5 extra in-game hours, if you want actual rainy days or thunderstorms that last all night you have to set your own values in the ini.

-Weather can persist while you sleep.

Depending on how many hours you sleep and how long the current weather is set to last, weather might persist while you're asleep.

-A chance for random bad weather when you wake up.
If you go to sleep during clear weather there's a chance that you'll wake up to random bad weather.

-Make weather persist through quitting / loading the game.
This can be a little  wonky since the mod doesn't save while the weather is transitioning from one type to another (not always apparent if it's happening).
If your weather isn't restored when you re-load the game it's likely because of this. Might improve it later..
Also the mod can't differentiate one save from another. If you load up a different save the mod will load the weather from the previous save.

-A chance for random bad weather when load the game.
If your saved weather is clear/sunny (or you don't use the save feature) there's a chance for random bad weather when you load up the game.

Important-ish:
Since it can be hard to tell if the mod is working as intended, if you think you're experiencing an issue (mod not working, weather is stuck, etc..) please check the log file MorePersistentWeather.log in you game's root folder, you'll find some info about what's going on.
If it doesn't help or you actually found and issue let me know!

Also: For example rainy weather can (but not necessarily) be like this:
sunny > rain > thunderstorm > light rain > sunny
In this case the mod will activate three times, during each rainy type weather. Keep this in mind if you set custom values in the ini, they can add up and make bad weather last longer than you might expect.

Currently fast travel will reset weather as per usual.

Installation:
Download MorePersistentWeather.rar, extract it and drop the files into your Red Dead Redemption 2 game folder.

You're going to need Script Hook By Alexander Blade.

Version 1.2.4: Made some changes trying to fix the sudden weather change bug, haven't tested it too much yet so I'm not sure if it's better

I'm having an issue where the weather will almost instantly switch between Sunny and Heavy Thunderstorm, then back again. I haven't touched the ini, but it seems to happen when the game wants to move between rainy and sunny.

Yeah, the changes I made in the latest version didn't exactly work as I planned... I just uploaded a new version that should fix the worst of it.

Hello, I just downloaded the mod for the more persistent weather for the game. I believe I added it the right spot because I have another mod in the same spot to have free roam without random players being able to join it. Anywho I added the file the corrected harddrive, in which the game is downloaded on. From harddrive > Steam Library > steamapps > common > Red Dead Redemption 2 > x64 > data > and then added it in here. I also changed the time intervals in the .ini to make weather last longer, regardless of what kind of weather it is. Also, when I did like so, the mod was not working, unless I am missing something here. I am not too savvy on computer tech but is the script hook that you mention in the description the "Spaghetti" file that needs to be downloaded and placed in the same spot as the actual mod? In addition, I am not in story mode, I am just in Read Dead Online in Free Roam. I want to share the mod with my friends so we have the same weather but can't get it to work. May you please help if able to?
Oh I should also mention, when I went to edit the ".ini," my computer made me create a folder of the three files. Does is have to be in a meta or rar file?

Thank you.

i dont think anything on this site is intended to be used online. if you have a private server i would look at the redm forums for support, but any mods claiming to work on rockstar servers are liable to get you banned

Hello! The files need to be in your 'Red Dead Redemption 2' folder, *not* inside the 'data' folder. They need to be unpacked, you only need the three files with the .asi, .ini and .dat extentions. You can download Scripthook from here:

http://www.dev-c.com/rdr2/scripthookrdr2/

You also have to unpack the scriphook files in your Red Dead 2 folder, next to the mod files.

But as noab guy said above, these mods generally not intended for online play, I don't even know if this one would work online and they might even get you banned, so I wouldn't recommend using it online.
